“Sean Left Quietly”, by Henry Blumberg

Henry Blumberg, a UCT law school alumnus, has just published a memoir: “Sean Quietly: A Father’s Memoir.” Henry formed the UCT Canadian Foundation with fellow alumni in the 1980s, prior to UCTCanada receiving status as a “prescribed university outside Canada” in 2011.

A review on Amazon about the memoir states: “In this gripping memoir about his son’s suicide, Henry Blumberg searches not only in the clues his son left behind but also further back and further beyond: in South Africa, where his own childhood was scarred by apartheid and shadowed by mental illness, and in Latvia, where his family was massacred. As the memoir weaves between times and between generations, the unifying thread is the author’s searching and humane perspective, which finds compassion and optimism even in tragedy. It felt like a privilege to read this book. It is a tribute to Sean’s exceptional life as well as a testament to Henry’s.”  (Darren Gobert, Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, United States.)

Vice-Chancellor Mamokgethi Phakeng, Marcia and Henry Blumberg, Babalwa Ngonyama, Chair of UCT Council. Receipt of Dean’s Pin in recognition of longstanding support.

The book can be purchased on Amazon or Henry’s publisher’s website www.henryblumberg.com.
