Chairman's Report

At the beginning of last year Di Stafford accepted the position of Regional Director of Alumni Relations & Development with the University of Cape Town. Di was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Labrador and after spending a number of years at UCT as Development Officer, joined the Baxter Theatre as Development Manager. Di (fortunately for us) decided to return to Canada with her two daughters and is assisting the Foundation’s in it’s various projects as well as developing relations with Canadian Foundations, corporations and Alumni on behalf the University of Cape Town.

Di has in the last year been building Alumni relationships and to that end has been very much involved in the successful Alumni dinner that took place in Vancouver in November last year. The Vancouver chapter headed up by Dr. Richard Cohen, a Foundation Board member, and other chapter members helped make this a very successful evening. [Read More]

Response to Vice Chancellor’s Challenge Annual Appeal

The response to the Annual mail appeal distributed in November by UCT has been promising. Funds raised from this appeal will go towards the Chancellor’s Challenge Scholarship awards. This campaign has been running for the past five years, and the 2008 appeal draws the campaign to a close. [Read More]


SHAWCO Education provides professional intervention to 200 learners in Matric

Amongst its many programs, SHAWCO (Students Health & Welfare Centres Organization) Education Sector has been providing extra lessons in Maths, Science, English and Biology to learners in Cape Town Township for the past five years. [Read More]
