UCT Visitors to Canada

The Dean of Engineering & the Built Environment, Prof Alison Lewis, met with alumni in Vancouver in late August. This coincided with her attendance of the COM2017 Metallurgists Conference in Vancouver. Although the group was small, the meeting provided the opportunity for open discussion around the faculty and the university as a whole. Our thanks go out to Prof Alison Lewis for making herself available to alumni during her trip, and to Conrad Guelke for logistics on the ground.

Early in October Dr Russell Ally, the Executive Director of Development & Alumni Department (DAD) visited Toronto, met with donors, and addressed alumni.

Russell Ally presented an update on UCT and gave an articulate explanation of the motivation for and the ensuing events that took place on campus over the past two years. The floor opened for questions, which were hard-hitting and responded to candidly. After the presentation alumni stayed on for refreshments and snacks and the opportunity for one-on-one chats with Russell.

The event was held at the Novotel North York Hotel to give alumni from the northern GTA an opportunity to attend an event, when such are normally held in the downtown core. We are grateful to those alumni who attended, many for the first time. It was also a great opportunity to meet and acknowledge donors who attended.
