Honouring the vision of Bongani Mayosi

To commemorate the work and the presence that the late Prof Bongani Mayosi> had on the Faculty of Health Sciences, with the blessing of the family, the Impilo Bursary Fund has been renamed the Mayosi Impilo Bursary Fund to honour this remarkable man.

Many alumni will remember meeting Bongani Mayosi and Nonhlanhla Khumalo at the alumni braai we held in Mississauga in 2016.

Prof Mayosi always felt the need to invest in South Africa’s intellectual capital – necessary to drive progress into the future.

“In 2005 he was awarded the President’s Award from the National Research Foundation in recognition of his achievements. In 2009 he received the highest honour that South Africa can bestow upon any citizen: the Order of Mapungubwe in Silver, for his contribution to medical science. “ [http://www.702.co.za/articles/13567/bongani-mayosi]
