Garreth Bloor, new President of the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business

April 2019 | Spring 2019

Garreth Bloor to bring new energy to the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business.

We are happy to report that Garreth Bloor, UCT alumnus, graduating in 2010, took over as President of the Canada Africa Chamber of Business at their AGM in February, on the retirement of GSB alumnus, Bruce Shapiro.

Bruce held the position for the past 19 years, and was instrumental in growing the Chamber, organising many important networking events both in Canada and in Africa. We are sure this won’t be the last we see of Bruce.

While at UCT, Garreth was a member of the SRC, and served on the Council of UCT from 2011 to 2016, he also served in executive government as an elected official in Cape Town, is a member of the Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance which convenes at Harvard annually, the African Leadership Network, and was a 2017 Aspen Ideas Scholar of the Aspen Institute. He was recently featured in Forbes Africa as a Global Shaper.

We congratulate Garreth on his new appointment and look forward to many new networking opportunities at the Canada Africa Chamber of Business.
